The primary native red grapes are Vranac and Kratošija, but there’s also a fair amount of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grown in Montenegro.

White Wine

The native white grape is Krstač which produces a dry white wine with excellent structure and complexity. This wine goes well with cheese, seafood, and white meat. Additionally, there’s some Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

Embarking on a self-guided winery tour from Bar is a fantastic way to explore the region’s wine culture at your own pace. If you want to visit a winery in the city of Bar, Vinarija Knjaz-Vujović is a convenient option.

If you have time to venture into the picturesque countryside, you’ll discover charming wineries offering unique experiences and exquisite wines less than an hour from Bar.

If you only have one day for a wine tour, we suggest visiting the following three wineries:

If you have a driver (and you definitely should), you could leave Bar after lunch, visit all three wineries, and be back in Bar in time for dinner. Of course, how long the tour takes will depend on how many wineries you visit and how long you spend at each winery.
