The Pazar Market in Split is a large open-air market located on the eastern side of the Diocletian Palace, in front of the Silver Gate. The market offers a variety of commodities, including fresh fruits and vegetables, cheap clothing and shoes, and souvenirs. All the groceries found here are produced by local farms near Split, and the market only offers seasonal products.

The prices are reasonable, but they can increase during the high season. It’s recommended to negotiate prices with vendors before buying anything.

The market opens at around 7 AM and closes by 2 PM.

During the winter, the Fish Market (Ribarnica or Peškarija) is held inside an interesting architectural building constructed over 120 years ago in Secession style. The market is in the square in front of the building during the summer.

The market has all the seafood the Adriatic Sea has to offer, from sprats, picarels, sardines, and mackerels to more expensive red scorpion fish, dentex, red porgy, sea bass, and lobsters. The only thing that’s missing are flies! As it turns out, the flies don’t care for the smell of sulfur from the neighboring spa.

Kadena is an upscale restaurant known for its exquisite selection of fresh fish. Additionally, the restaurant occupies a stunning location overlooking the sea, with some of the region’s finest views enjoyed from the terrace.

PiNKU Fish & Wine is a small restaurant located next to the historic Peškarija fish market. The restaurant used to be a butcher’s shop and its name translates to “small” in the local language. The menu is seafood-inspired, modern, and concise.

Inside the restaurant, there are only a couple of tables, in addition to seats along the marble kitchen counter. Outside, there are six tables available on the terrace.
